UPINGTON – In a shocking turn of events, a Democratic Alliance (DA) PR councillor and general assistant at Dr Harry Surtie Hospital in Upington have been caught red-handed in a sudsy scandal that is threatening to bubble over into a full-fledged political froth.
The alleged mastermind, identified as Deeyone de Koker, is accused of perpetrating the most heinous of crimes — stealing Sta-soft and Sunlight dishwashing liquid from the Tuberculosis unit. Sources confirm that this cunning caper took place on June 23, sending shockwaves through the soapy corridors of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality.
Hospital security, acting faster than a stain on a white shirt, apprehended the detergent delinquent while he was attempting to make a clean getaway with two five-litre bottles of Sta-soft and a five-litre bottle of Sunlight dishwashing liquid. The daring daylight detergent heist left the entire Tuberculosis unit in a state of squeaky-clean shock.
The accused, Mr De Koker, claims innocence, stating that he’s being unfairly targeted for his fearless pursuit of justice against fraud and corruption on social media. “I refuse to be silenced while I am being unjustly slandered by individuals driven by personal resentment rather than factual evidence,” he declared, presumably with a straight face.
However, the DA chief whip, Dr Isak Fritz, took the allegations seriously, emphasizing the party’s commitment to the rule of law. “We believe in due process. The outcome of internal labour processes will determine our next steps,” Dr Fritz solemnly declared, perhaps mulling over a new campaign slogan, “A Detergent Democracy.”
Meanwhile, the Northern Cape Department of Health spokesperson, Lulu Mxekezo, confirmed that Mr De Koker has been placed on precautionary suspension. “The charges are very serious misconduct of alleged theft that warrant disciplinary action. The disciplinary processes are underway to deal with the allegations,” Mxekezo stated, hinting at a soapy courtroom drama that could put even the sudsiest of daytime soap operas to shame.
As the soapy saga unfolds, one can only wonder what other dirty laundry might be aired, as this bubbly controversy threatens to stain the reputation of politicians and hospital assistants alike. Stay tuned for the next episode of “As the Dish Detergent Turns.”
